Reiki is an energy healing technique that assists the body’s natural healing abilities. During a session, a reiki practitioner—that’s me—channels energy through their hands into the client’s body through gentle touch. The channeled reiki energy clears blockages, stagnant energy, and balances the client’s chakras or energy centers.
There are five reiki principles that I believe everyone should incorporate into their lives as daily affirmations.
Just for today, I will not worry.
Just for today, I will not be angry.
Just for today, I will be grateful.
Just for today, I will do my work honestly.
Just for today, I will be kind to every living thing.

Reiki is most popularly known as a tool relaxation. During reiki, your brain enters a theta wave state which is where emotional experiences are stored. Theta waves facilitate restoration, growth, and healing. Throughout the session you may feel the tension melt from your muscles, your heart rate and breathing may slow down, and your blood pressure may lower. This response is the opposite of “fight or flight,” and precisely why reiki is a wonderful for stress management and anxiety reduction.
Reiki is also known to support the immune system, improve sleep quality, provide mental clarity, and strengthen intuition. I’ve been using reiki for years to manage my health, including Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis—an autoimmune condition. My mentor has also shared stories of autoimmune conditions going into remission and healing an unborn child’s life-threatening condition that was found during prenatal testing.
Reiki is for every age, every person, every living being and even non-living thing. Reiki can be used to infuse your food and drink with healing energy, create a protective shield around your house, or to aid in your pet’s or plant’s health!
